How does one clean a turtle tank?

Answerin a sink get the water flowing to be a similar temperature to the habitat, luke warm. Make sure the water is gentel, not full blast but you want more than just a trickle. Hold the turtle under it by it shell. Expose the head and each limb to the running water. or you can fill up the tub or sink and just letting it swim in fresh clean water gives it a bath! make sure youlightly scrub the shell! what i do to my turtles is that i have a special toothbrush just for them,and lighty scrub the shell with special shampoo made for turtles!! yu can but it at petco

You first stick in a siphon and so you don't have to suck on it, dip it in open end towards the surface and hold it out of the water. Let the water run down until the big part is almost empty, then dip it in quick. (You might have to dip it upside down.) This may take multiple times. Then, you put it open end down, and stick it in the gravel. You should see all the turtle feces and uneaten food coming up. The scales will come up too, but you will need to release the suction and get those out by hand because they will get stuck in the tube. IMPORTANT: Always get the turtles out and put them in a fairly large bucket filled a little bit with water and put other decorations in a SEPARATE bucket. Keep cleaning until you can stick the end of the hose in anywhere in the gravel and have pretty much nothing coming up in it. Good luck with your turtles! ; )

Take out the turtles and put them in your bath tub with some water. Make sure that the water isn't too hot for them. The temperature should be around 78 degrees F. Take out all of the cage items (rocks[not gravel], logs, plastic plants, filters, heaters ect...) and scrub them, with no soap or cleaners just water, to get any dirt or algae off of them. If you have a pump that gets the water out of the tank for you, then use it and stir it around in the gravel to suck up the poop and dirt. If you don't have one, then use a cup and a bucket to get the water out. Once it's too shallow to scoop without getting gravel in your cup then push all the gravel to one side in a pile and scoop out as much water as possible. There will still be dirt in the pile of gravel so poor some clean bath water over the pile and them scoop it out. Keep doing that until the water that comes out of the gravel looks clear. Get out as much of the bath water as possible but if a little remains it won't hurt your turtles. Spread the gravel out and fill your cage with clean spring water or kangen water. Return the cleaned cage items to your cage. Buy some turtle approoved water cleaner and put it in the water as described on the label. You can also buy a little thing in the shape of a turtle that dissovles in the water over time and kills bacteria as well as dissovles poop. I don't know what they are called but you can find them in the reptile section of most pet stores. When i get them i put them in my filter because my turtles always try to eat them. Any way, let your water heat up if you have a heater and then put your turtles back in!

One cleans a turtle tank by taking out the turtles and putting them in a safe place. Then, one must change the water, rinse any decorations, and then replace the water. The water should sit for a while until it goes back to the ideal temperature for a turtle habitat, and only then can the turtles be placed back in the habitat.

First you take something like an old tooth brush and scrub down the shell. The cool off the shell with cool water.

Run warm water over your turtle, and use an old toothbrush and scrub in little circles. This will get all the nasty gunk out of the cracks.
