Black and yellow grass snakes, commonly known as the eastern garter snake, typically reach lengths of about 18 to 26 inches (45 to 66 cm). However, some individuals can grow up to 42 inches (107 cm) in rare cases. These snakes are known for their distinctive coloration and adaptability to various habitats.

It depends what species they are, an albino grass snake would not grow as long as an albino anaconda.
The vast majority are not dangerous, but some species pose a risk to humans. These include the yellow-bellied sea snake (Hydrophis platurus) and the coral snake (Micrurus fulvius). Most garter snakes are black or grey with at least one long, yellow stripe running from the neck to the tail.
Most likely in a garden or long grass or a wet...swampy area
That depends. The term "black snake" can apply to any number of snakes that are black. Species of snake described by the term range from less than 2 feet long to as much as 10 feet long. Other snakes of black coloration may be even smaller, barely reaching a foot in length.

Yes they do - they have a long spine running the length of their body.
YES! YES! YES! Synthetic grass or indoor outdoor grass is a perfect substrate especially for snakes. This is because synthetic grass does not breed bacteria like organic substrate and that is important for snakes because most species are prone to skin infections on their underbellies. This was told to me by my Veterinarian who specializes in reptiles or a herpetologist and he says that he recommends synthetic substrate for all the reptiles he treats.

You would have to stand on it for a very, very long time for it to die. IO don't think it would be possible for you to stand there that long. Further answer: I have recently left a big stone on grass for a week, the grass turned yellow, but a week after the stone was lifted the grass has turned green again.
