Do snapping turtles bite humans?

Yes if they get mad at you . I just adopted a Florida Snapping Turtle, someone had for ten years. It is about 8 inches long. It is still kind of nippy, I'm trying to socialize it. I hold it a lot and I just never put my fingers in front of it. If it gets upset about something I slowly put it down or I wrap it in a T-Shirt. You can hold a snapping turle by lifting its hind legs off the ground (by the tail) and sliding your other hand under its plastron (botton side of its shell).
