All rattlesnake species give birth to live young. The average diamondback gives birth from 8-12 babies at one time. The babies are born fully capable to hunt for their first meal within days. Most diamondbacks give birth in mid or late summer. The babies venom is just as potent as the adults'. Unlike many reptiles, the diamondbacks take care of their young for a while, as opposed to abondoning them as soon as they are born. Many rattlesnakes are greatly misunderstood, and are thought as incredibly vicous, violent snakes, that attack on sight. This is not true. They are actually very shy, and most attacks happen when the rattlesnake was striking out in self-defense or provoked. If you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone.

How do multiple alleles and genes working together on a single cell trait give us variety?

When the process meiosis creates new gametes (sex cells), each gamete has haploid, or n chromosones (half the number of other cells), which means that each gamete has 23 chromosones. Chromosones come in pairs, and when meiosis occurs it randomly picks one chromosone from each pair, which is what causes variation. We inherit 23 chromosones from each parent as well, so that adds to the variation even more. Chromosones and alleles are both found in the same place. Hope that was what you were looking for.
