Alligators are reptiles and reptiles continue to grow their whole life, but the growth rate slows down the older they get. So yes technically an alligator could grow that large, but the largest alligator on record measured 19 feet 2 inches and was caught in Louisiana in the early 1900's.

The world's largest alligator is the American Alligator (Alligator Mississippiensis), and they usually average out at lengths of 12 - 14.5 FT. However, one specimen measured 19ft 2inches in Louisiana! Hope that helped :)
