Yes, some species of tortoises have relatively shorter lifespans compared to their long-lived counterparts. One example is the Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus), which typically lives about 40 to 60 years in the wild. While this is still a lengthy lifespan compared to many other animals, it is shorter than that of species like the Galápagos or Aldabra tortoises, which can live over a century. The Gopher Tortoise is also considered a keystone species in its habitat, contributing to ecosystem health.
they have short legs
The conflict is what it is a conflict. A story can have many of both. But the climax is the falling action. So in the tortoise and the hare the conflict is the race but the climax is when the tortoise starts to win

The word tortoise forms a regular plural, tortoises.
A jewelry from topaz (a precious stone) in the form of a tortoise.
I say they are so because think the got to Cary that shell.
e.e in their beds, the tortoise is aggressive when you touch their eggs. so be aware
The Climax of the story is the highest point of the story. So, the climax of the Totoise and the Hare is during the race. The Hare falls asleep, and the tortoise finishes first. The Hare thinks she is better than the Tortoise, so she is schocked when she wins.
Unfortunately, it is a myth that turtles and tortoises can leave or change their shells. The shell is actually a hard, protective covering over the turtle or tortoise's ribs. So if you find an empty tortoise shell that means that that tortoise has died and decomposed.
They were English so they didn't go to England because that is where they lived.
In its shell? If you encounter a Texas Tortoise in the wild do your best to observe it at a distance. To defend itself....... A Texas Tortoise may stand up tall to look menacing and may force air out it's nose in a hissing fashion. But most definitely if you pick it up will urinate and or defecate on you. This is not only icky but dangerous for the tortoise as water is hard to come by in their natural habitat. Texas Tortoises get their moisture mostly from the foods they eat, if a tortoise empties it's bladder on you, it can dehydrate and die. So in short...Texas Tortoises protect themselves by peeing on you!
Well I'm getting a Horsefield tortoise for christmas to. Now I can't tell you everything because it would fill the whole page, but I can give you the basics. You feed it cabbage, lettuce, fruit, that type of thing. And you will need a heat lamp, a tortoise table, stones etc. Now all what I can say is what ever you want to know just type into google, e.g what should a Horsefield Tortoise enclosure have? and your answer will be right infront of you. I have made a little booklet about all the information on the tortoise. So maybe thats what you could concider doing? Hope this helped!
