For Thermoregulatory adaptations:
Structural
- Scales and padded feet protect and prevent it from the heat
- Their great climbing ability is useful to escaping predators and sun baking.
Physiological
- Changing tint- from a light brown to dark brown. The light brown will abosrb less light (less heat) and the dark brown will absorb more light (more heat)
- Panting, the water from their saliva will evaporate and thus cool them down.
Behavioural
- Sun baking provides absorption of heat and thus activates cells and enzymes needed for daily activity
- Burrowing underground to escape extreme heat
