What are the best small lizard pet?

well frankly the only option for keeping a reptile is a bearded dragon originally from austrailia, these curious creatures love to be handled and can be fed dry food in pellet form, they are easy to look after and make great pets. they dont bite and when they are cross they puff up a beard, hence the name, but ask anyone they really are amazing and are easy to look after, love being handled and make a great pet. so i suggest a bearded dragon for a pet.

I've heard one of the best reptiles are bearded dragons, because you can hold them, and they have personality. However, they do grow quite big. Also I think some of the best beginner amphibians are either the Firebelly Toad, African Dwarf frogs, or maybe the best treefrog is the White's tree frog. ;)

Blue tongue lizards are better to start with. When you get used to that move up to gecko's and iguanas and all them reptiles. With snakes you should start with a children's python. Even if your not a child. :-P

There is no "best" pet lizard; people have their own favorites and preferences. Some lizards are very easy to care for and make great first pet reptiles. Some are much more difficult to care for and should only be cared for by experienced reptile handlers. Some of these harder-to-handle pet lizards include moniters, iguanas(because of their size. they can grow to be several feet long and require massive cages!), and certain species of tegus and chameleons. If anyone else would like to add their own favorites to the list, feel free, but please do not delete existing answers; what you may consider to be the "worst pet lizard" may be the "best pet lizard" to someone else! Leopard GeckoThe leopard gecko is a great lizard for beginners. It stays small, doesn't have a lot of space requirements, and is generally very tolerant of handling. These lizards can grow to be 8 or 9 inches from tip of nose to end of the tail. Assuming you don't get one with a special/rare color and pattern, you should be able to pick up a leopard gecko for under $25. You will also need to buy an appropriate sized tank (10 gallons is good for one leopard gecko), crickets for food, supplements, substrate, and a heat source (under tank heater, or a heat lamp). Leopard gecko's are nocturnal and active at night.

It is very easy to take care of these lizards. You feed them 2 to 4 live crickets every other day, make sure their water is fresh, and the temperatures are maintained properly. They don't require special UVA/B lighting because of the fact that they are nocturnal. You should get a special reptile light designed for use after dark. This will allow you to watch them at night and not have their sleeping and waking patterns disturbed. Keep their temperatures in the proper ranges and make sure they have food, water, and supplements you'll find that these lizards make very hardy pets. One thing to be careful of is their tails. Like most other lizards the leopard gecko has the ability to drop its tail if it is being threatened. The tail will grow back but it puts unnecessary stress on the animal

I would say the common anole lizard is a good first reptile for pet owners. I have two and they are extremely cheap to care for
