That really depends on the type of snake. Some snakes, such as the black racer, are a dull pitch black, maybe with a tint of blue or grey. Then there are very bright and colorful snakes such as corn snakes. What part of the snake are you talking about? The top of the ring-necked snake is completely black except for an orange ring around the head. But if you flip one over, you'll see that the underbelly is yellow, orange and black.
