my daughter found 2 baby painted turtles so I've been reading up on them. What I have read on mating and laying eggs so far is the female turtle is 4 to 5 years and male 3 -5 years for mating.
Note: you can't really tell the sex of a turtle until after it's a baby. Male map turtles are about 1/3 the size of their females. Male map turtles have a concave under shell. Female map turtles have a convex under shell.
the male painted turtle wiggles it's nails in front of the female turtles

You can only adopt male baby sea turtles and female squids, but if you want the female sea turtle you can buy it for 23 pearls or the male squid for 623 coins. Hope this helps! (Oh and if you were looking for more interesting colors, you can mate the male and female squids and possibly get a hot pink squid or golden, or if you mate the turtles you can get a gold one.)
There is no actual names for a group of baby turtles but I guess you can call it hatchlings
