Oh, dude, snakes don't care if it's alive or not, they'll chow down on some frozen mice or rats like it's no big deal. They're not picky eaters, as long as it fits in their mouth and doesn't fight back too much. So yeah, snakes can totally munch on some non-living prey, no problem.
