Spear-nosed bats are classified as microbats. They belong to the family Phyllostomidae and are known for their echolocation abilities, which they use to navigate and hunt for insects. Unlike megabats, which primarily rely on their keen sense of smell and vision for foraging, microbats like spear-nosed bats are adapted to a wide range of insectivorous diets.
