About the size of a Cat, but they are not feline. Apart from chemical adaptations, they are not a bad-looking animal and ( de-scented) have been kept as pets. Sometimes they are referred to as Polecats and Wood Pussies- which suggests a feline background, but they are not cats.

Sometimes the easy to digest answer is the best one. a Skunk is a wild animal with defensive scent glands under the tail. They are Black and White- some are spotted , some basically striped, and about the size of a domestic cat. Apart from the olfactory problems, they are somewhat cute animals and have been kept as pets- once descented. A number of Cartoons have dealt with Skunks such as Flower, Pepe le Pew, Odie ( who was sort of a diplomat to King Leonardo- the Lion) and, there is a still cartoon on the internet of a pretty little red and white skunk that looks like Veronica Spector! Oh boy. There was a comic book skunk called Squiffy that used stop-motion animation, supposedly with live skunks but probably with dressed skunk dolls.
