Well its not very common, but snakes like to lay where the sun is directed and cars attract sunlight. So... depending on where you live it is usually a common snake most likely a Garter snake or grass. They are normally harmless unless frightened. Be careful though, they release a white liquid that smells very bad to warn off enemies. :)
