What type of animal is a serval?

It eats stuff like frogs, hares, small animals of that type. can't remember precisely, but i imagine it'd eat stuff like rats, too. they've been known to take down springbok, but most prey is rather smaller than they are. -Myrl-

Well a serval eats rodents that they catch along with birds like guinea fowl (which is a rare catch for them) and they will eat the carcass of a deer or pretty much any other animal if they get lucky.

Not technically. Though if prey is not available, they may eat berries and such. Since dentally they possess a carnassial set of teeth, they classified as carnivores. To note, my serval went on a week long "holiday" last Christmas and while living in the woods by the beach, she was found eating blueberry muffins!!!
