yes beardies hibernate. male or female, they will do this every winter for 6-8 weeks. if u dont allow them to do so, it will shorten their lifespan. they wont however hibernate if the weather is nice and warm, when they dont feel a need for it. the lighting should be reduced, but still keep it warm.
Actually with reptiles it is called brumation and the reason why all animals hibernate is so they can escape the cold of winter.
