It can Veriee Usually it can cost between 5-15 dollars USA I would strongly recommend getting a rough green snake because they are good starter snakes. If you have a freak parent over snakes then I would get a green snake because they are very harmless and DO NOT contain any venom, thank god!! U also don't have to feed them mice or anything like that. You just have to give them brown crickets with this vitamin stuff on it. If your afraid of the crickets escaping just get a container from pet smart or something cause they sell pretty good junk!! Wish you luck]!! ==

Note: I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend this species for beginners. They are very difficult to maintain in captivity, and should be attempted only by experts! Do not doom the animal to death by attempting to keep it if you do not have a LOT of experience.

From what I've researched they live in large grassy areas and are more common the farther north you go. Since they are green they blend in very well and quickly escape when they detect predators nearby. Most encounters appear to be accidental. I would try potential sunning areas and lifting rocks to catch them out in the open but again this is all based on what I've researched. They are also supposed to be extremely friendly and rarely bite. I really want to find one myself so if anyone has more specific information please write it here.

they should be getting some in for 2011 im wanting to get one myself as by mother hates Rodents/Mice and as this is one of the only insects that eats Locusts, Crickets,Catipillars, Spiders and Worms. Please do your Research before getting one!!

You dont want to have one as they do not do well in captivity. Smooth greens are also a listed species in many of the states that they are found therefore the act of removing one from the wild is illegal. The best way to enjoy reptiles is to get outside and see them in their natural element. Taking pictures and respecting their niche are far better than taking one from its habitat, essentially a death to its local population. Hope you make a responsible decision!
