A Mississippi Mud Turtle is a Semi-Aquatic turtle and as such, it will breathe not only from it's mouth, but needs to have adequate filtration in its tank so that way it can breathe subcutaneously, that is, through their skin (like a frog does) when it is sleeping in the water at night.
