Why do you think the crocodiles eyes and nostrils protrude above the the water?

Crocodiles have three sets of eyelids because one eyelid helps them to

survive out on land, the other one is soft and helps them to sleep and

the last one of all helps crocodiles to swim underwater. The crocodile can

change these eyelids by voluntary actions.

The organisms living in the water come out for respiration, So crocodile keep its snout out of water while resting for taking in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide.

They don't, any aquatic reptile needs to return to the surface to breathe after a while, the only creatures that can breather underwater are fish (and all their variants ie: sharks, stingrays etc)
