Why does your bearded dragon sleep so much?

Bearded Dragons are a DESERT species.

In their natural habitat, most of the day s spent sheltering from the hot desert sun. Occasionally, they will bask in the heat of the sun to warm their bodies prior to hunting for insects (their primary food).

Their main activity times are dusk and dawn, when the temperature is not too hot.

This is called brumation when a bearded dragon sleeps a lot. It is similar to hybernation, except they are not sleeping all the time. In brumation, the beardie tends to slow down and sleep a lot during the winter, (but sometimes they brumate late, my lizard brumated in the summer). This is completely normal, and they usually brumate 3-5 months. Some even longer, just depends on the beardie.

When it's cold, they mostly like to sleep. When it's warmer, they prefer to sit under a heat lamp, and hunt for food (So feed them daily).

As often as they want ! Each animal is different - they wil have their own 'sleep pattern'.

Could be lack of heat, make sure your tank is 70-80 cool side and 100-110 hot side. If your temps are good then it could be brumation (hibernation)
