At French law, if a man was born in France, his children do not automatically qualify for a French passport. Each case ought to be carefully considered by a French lawyer (a Solicitor) before applying for French citizenship.
Being French. You can claim French Citizenship if at least one of your parents is French, or in some cases French-born. The requirements are different according to the agreements and treaties between France and your home country. Any French consulate or French Embassy abroad will provide you with the list of requirements.
People who served in the French army can apply for French citizenship if they fought for France. Starting from that, your father has first to obtain French citizenship (even if dual with a another nationality). Once that done, you can apply for French nationality (expect that to be slow and uneasy)
If you have a green card and have lived in the US for at least five years; then apply for American citizenship and become a dual citizen of France and the US. Why giving up your French passport!?* If you are just a French citizen and do not live in the US, thinking about just exchanging the two nationalities with eachother, the answers is no.
Passports are issued by the country where you LIVE, not where your dad was from. If you were born in, or live in France, you will get a French passport to travel internationally. If you are a US citizen, to travel abroad you will get a US passport, whether or not your father was born in the US, France, or Mars... If your father is a French citizen and you are under 18, you're entitled to a dual citizenship, and passports from both countries. Some countries ask you to choose one or the other at 18. I do not believe the US or France are among these. You might check with the French consulate in your area.
If you are still not a US citizen, you will need to use your passport from your native country of citizenship. If you do not have a passport from your country of citizenship, you will need to go to the nearest consulate of your country of citizenship, get a passport (which can take months). Once you have a passport, you will need to figure out whether you need a VISA to visit France and, if necessary, you will need to go to the nearest French consulate and apply for a VISA to go to France. It may take months, so you would need to go as soon as possible. Let's say, for example, that you are an Italian immigrant and still hold an Italian passport. You will be able to go to France without a VISA, by using your Italian passport (like any other Italian citizen). Conversely, let's say that you are a Thai immigrant and still hold a Thai passport, you will need to get a French VISA from the French consulate nearest to you. This is a map of the places that do and do not require VISAs to go to France: Schengen VISA Map
It is possible only for a person whose father or mother has / had French citizenship, or under special conditions if the applicant is born in France.
This is not enough. If two foreign-born parents have a child born in France, they can claim French citizenship for the child (turn towards the Préfecture with the birth certificate). Having a child entitled to French citizenship may help (but not be sufficient anyway) the parents to obtain their naturalization.
she is French means she has French citizenship, she is a citizen of France.
If you are a French citizen, living in mainland France: apply to your local "sous-préfecture" or "préfecture". If you are a French citizen, living abroad, report to the local consulate or embassy. If you need to establish your citizenship, report to these same locations, with documents proving the French citizenship of your mother. Once your mother's citizenship established, you will be asked some more documents proving that you are her son or daughter. This step being cleared, you will be able to get a French ID at the same office.

French passports are for French nationals. If your father holds French citizenship - which is possible from the fact he was born on a French territory, but not automatic - you can in turn apply for French citizenship. It is very unlikely that you could get French citizenship if your father isn't himself French. If he his, that will not be granted automatically either. To size up your chances, contact the French embassy or consulate in your home country.
