(Eccle.12:7) The Bible says that we are unconscious at death (Eccle.9:5-10)... indicating that the spirit works in conjunction with the human brain. So, if the spirit returns to God at death... it's apparent that it is preserved with Him in some way that He returns to whatever body we resurrect in for Judgment Day. It is also evident that our spirit is what God saves in the Judgment. "...deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that THE SPIRIT MAY BE SAVED in the Day of the Lord Jesus." (I Cor.5:5) We don't know for sure. So far, no observation has been made of any spirit and there is no evidence for them either. Like all spiritual or religious ideas, it comes down to faith; if you believe we have spirits, then we do for you. If not then we don't.
