the first McDonald was opened by the McDonald brothers. Ray Kroc was a milkshake machine salesman for the Multi Mike Company at the time and the McDonald brothers ordered a 8 head multi mixer. This got Ray Kroc to come there to see why they needed to make that many milk shakes.
