Mancharian is a village in Tehsil Depalpur, District Okara, Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated approximately 9 K.M. in the South East of Depalpur City. Population of this village is above 12,000 Persons. Origin: Name of the village is derived from the two Punjabi Words "Mun" and "Charian" which later on become "Mancharian". In Punjabi "Mun" is used for "Self" or in Urdu it is used for "Khudi" or "Marzi"; word "Charian" is used for "eating of grass by animal". Basically from the begging there was no control of any Feudal Lord on the village like the other villages of surrounding areas. People of the village never accept influence from the rich people, so this is known as "Mancharian" which states that no controller is appointed to control the mass (or Apni Marzi Se Chalnewalay). History: It is unknown how old this village, but as per verbal discussion with one of the member of Hindu Kamboh Families (which are now a days living in Haryna in India after partition) how were, the main land loads of Mancharian before partition, they narrated "we also don't now how old this village is, but our forefather came in this village approximately 300 years ago". There is a clear sign of drain of some river/canal in the east of village. Non of the livings knows for how long time this river/canal is dried. It means this village was establish on the bank of this river/canal but later on due to some reasons this river/canal become dry but this village is flourishing. Economy: Most of the people attached with agriculture. Important crops grown in Mancharian include Potato, Maize, Cotton, Wheat, Rice etc. After the Agriculture 2nd import source of earning is "Service" in Public and Private Sector. People of the Mancharian are serving in Punjab Police, Higher Education Department of Punjab, Pakistan Army, Banks in Public and Private Sector, Health Department of Punjab etc. Before partition Hindu family establish Main Bazar like other old cities of subcontinent, which contains Shops in main bazar and living house on back of shop with double story buildings (Chubaras). Most of the street of the village are congested which might be used as a trick in a wars in case any attached of invaders. In early 80s of last century there were Four Doors around the village for the entrance, but now all other door has been demolished but Main Entrance Gate of the Village is still in good condition especially wooden doors of this gate are still very strong in good condition. Famous personalities of Mancharian: Mr. Zahoor Ahmad (late): Served for the education for 40 years. Mr. Saith Shafique Ahmad: literary and intellectual person serving for education in Govt.High school Mahcharian. Mr. Muhammad Sharee: Serving for education in Dharamawala Govt. School. Mr. Muhammad Ali Nadeem: Assistant Vice President in Leading Bank of Pakistan Mr. Tariq Javed: Gold medalist in Punjab Board of Technical Education. Now, serving as lecture in Higher Education Department of Punjab. Dr. Muhammad Akbar Dolla: Working of health of general mass under Ali Clinical and Maternity Hospital, Mancharian Dr. Muhammad Irshad: He is too serving for health of people. Rao Abdul Qayoom Khan (late): Ex-chairman and Nazim of Union Council, Mancharian. Culture & Religion: People of the village normally wear Shalwar Qamiz, Chappal and Khusa, but trend of wearing Pant & Shirt is also common. Normally marriage ceremonies are celebrated with simplicity. Mancharian has Govt. High School for boys as well as Govt. High School for girls along with a Primary School for boys at Abadi Faridabad. Literacy rate of this village is above 70%. 100% population of this village is Muslim which mostly consists on Sunni Muslims but there also some Shia Muslim and a few people belong to Ahl-e-Hadis Sect. There are two type of communities in the village one are the "Sabqays" and others are "Mahajers". Sabqays are Native Population of this village who are living in this village before the partition of sub-continent. "Mahajers" are those people who are migrated from the Indian after independence of Indo-Pak from British Rulers. Population of the village consist of almost all the costs of Punjab including but not limited to; Rajput, Miana , Wayance, Arain, Khokhar, Jat, Dhodhy, Sindho, Sheikh, Zargar, Rangraiz, Bhatti, Malik, Sokhera, Rehmani, Harni, Toor, Bhutta, Paracha, Jatala, Gailan, Joya, Wattoo, Ansari, Dolla etc.
