It's a matter of opinion which logo looks better. Presumably Wendy's thinks the new one appears more "modern" and is trying to convey some kind of message like "Hey, we're not stuck in the 80s" ... either the 1980s, which is the last time their logo was updated, or the 1880s that the font used suggested.
