1) turn on your hot rollers
2) section bottom layer of your hair
3) grab a piece of hair about an inch wide and the smallest roller you have
4) starting at the bottom of your hair, roll your hair around the roller but only until the middle of your hair and roll the curler the same direction the rest of the way
5) continue for the rest of the bottom section
6) part the middle section of your hair
7) do the exact same thing but with bigger curlers
8) part the last section of your hair and do the same thing except now with the biggest rollers
9) leave rollers in for 15-25 minutes
*If you want a softer look, comb through curls with a wide-toothed comb

Either. Obviously if the hair's dry, the rollers need to be hot. If you're rolling your hair while it's wet, they don't have to be. And although rolling your hair when it's wet takes a long time to dry, the curls turn out better looking and tend to last longer.
You do this because then your hair will actually be curly. If you take the rollers out when your hair is still wet then the hair my just fall flat again.

You can chemically straighten it. This process is similar to a perm and probably best performed by a licensed cosmetologist. You can also wet your hair with water and/or setting lotion and use thick rollers to set your hair and wait for it to air dry. After the hair is dry, take out the rollers and brush it out. This will work on most hair types and takes quite a bit of time to naturally dry. Hope this helps. :)
