The size of a roll of sod at Home depot varies on the price that is being paid and the brand that is being purchased. It also depends on the variation of sod being purchased.
Sod prices will vary by type of material and the region you are in. In the south, the most common grass is Bermuda Tiff 419 and it runs 16-20 cents delivered. If you like Fescue, you can pay as much as 25 cents and Zoysia is as high as 36. You can call Adam @ A & N Sod Supply at 404-867-8501 and he will help you. His web is www.877getgrass.com.
I just purchased hybrid Bermuda - 2200 sq ft for $675
Sod is not always available at Lowes and can't be purchased online. You'll need to visit a Lowe's store to see their current selection and prices.
Bermuda is a warm season grass (it goes dormant in the winter), so it is not advised to plant after August. The sod needs warm temperatures for several weeks to product healthy roots.

It is not recommended to lay Zoysia sod directly on top of Bermuda grass. The Bermuda grass should be killed off first using a non-selective herbicide, followed by proper soil preparation before installing Zoysia sod to ensure successful establishment. Trying to establish Zoysia sod on top of Bermuda grass without proper preparation may result in competition and poor growth of the desired grass.
From the info I have from a sod supplier: each roll is 10sqft, there are 70 rolls on a pallet, so covers 700sqft
Sod is the grass that is grown and then you roll it out like a carpet. They call the places where they grow sod sod farms.
A professional installer will always roll, especially if it is for a residence. The exception is on hills or grades as it may shift the sod. Many new houses don't as they don't want the extra expense.
Roll the sod out on smooth black dirt. Push the sod strips together do there is not to big of a gapso the routes will not dry out then also sprinkle little bits of dirt on gaps along edges and joins to seal. Then water a fair bit to help establish a route system. And it should grow.
Typically, a roll of sod is 18" x 36". Two rolls of sod is about one square yard. One square yard of sod is about 9 square feet. Therefore, your roll of sod is approximately 4.5 square feet (you can also get that by multiplying 36" - 3 feet x 18" - 1.5 feet).
