In cheese rolling, several forces come into play, primarily gravity, friction, and inertia. Gravity pulls the cheese down the hill, causing it to accelerate, while friction between the cheese and the ground affects its speed and trajectory. The participants, who chase the cheese, experience inertia as they attempt to maintain balance while running downhill, often resulting in falls. These forces combine to create a chaotic but exhilarating race as competitors try to catch the rolling cheese.
Cheese rolling was actually invented in the early 1930's when many men just raced down Cooper hill at a picnic. They had brought cheese and when they got to the top the cheese started rolling down and they chased after it. With the hill being at 70 degrees at some spots and 50 at others it is almost impossible to stay on your feet the whole way down. People saw this from a distance and now every year on that exact day everyone goes to Cooper hill to watch these crazy people to race for they cheese. Break.com/cheeserolling
It is an annual custom where a large round Double Gloucester cheese is set off rolling down a very steep hill at Cooper's Hill, near Brockworth (Gloucestershire) England.
Funnily enough, the Gloucestershine Cheese rolling race is quite fun. About twenty contestants get on the top of a steep hill and roll after a Gloucestershire Cheese wheel. The person that gets to the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. At the bottom of the hill are ambulances ready to take care of scrapes, bruises, and the occasional broken bone.
