Guilt is a feeling that comes into our life when we do something wrong. So, how do we get rid of the guilt? By undoing the wrong. Suppose I do something wrong to you, I am guilty. If I undo it, the feeling of guilt is gone. Sometimes I can't undo it because the opportunity has passed, then I undo that act with others by doing an equal, reversible task so that I can get rid of the guilt. The most important way to get rid of the guilt is to first accept your mistake, to realize it, to make amends and to take corrective action. Sometimes prayer is magical, prayer can help us overcome guilt when we confess to God our acts of wrong doing, our sins. Then we are forgiven, but more importantly, we forgive ourselves.
A "guilty" conscience.
