After hearing about the Emancipation Proclamation, some slaves chose to flee to Union territory for freedom, while others stayed on plantations awaiting the arrival of Union troops to enforce their liberation. Many freed slaves also joined the Union army to fight for their own liberation and that of others still in bondage.
far from it .from what Ive heard, it took from 10 to 15 years before the first successful flight. By the way, the first working airplane was the silver-dart in 1909.
The immediate effects of the attacks included fear, worry, anguish and sadness of the American people and many across the world. Flights were cancelled and authorities were on high alert. Everyone was anxious and worried as they heard the news and waited for more information on what was happening.

You can't. If you live in a state that requires parental consent for emancipation, the court cannot force a minor's parents to agree to the action. In cases of abuse or neglect the state's division of children's protective services will investigate the charges and if it is found necessary the case will be heard by a judge who will decide what if any action should be taken to remove the parents of their rights to the child. When parental rights are terminated the child is placed in the custody of the state and appointed a guardian or placed in a foster home.
True. John Brown began his career as an abolitionist when he heard a sermon asking people to make a commitment to fight against slavery. He eventually led the disastrous raid on Harper's Ferry which many believe hastened the beginning of the Civil War.
New Mexico Emancipation Law: Any individual 16 or older can become emancipated if 1) he/she has entered into a valid marriage, 2) is on active duty with any of the armed forces of the U.S., or 3) has received a delcaration of emancipation. In order to receive a declaration of emancipatioin, a minor must petition the children's court of the district in which he/she lives. Before the petition can be heard, that minor's parents or guardian will be notified. Either side has the right to file a petition for a writ of mandamus to contest the results of the hearing. Any person who meets one of the three criteria above shall be granted a declaration of emancipation.
