The sensation is a bit more intense because you are getting two piercings in one sitting and it's done with a needle not a gun. so it should be not too bad about the same as the cartilage piercing.
I just had my upper cartilage pierced and on the 4th week i took it out i just got a good grip on the back of the earring then i got a good grip on the front of the earring and i just pull hard.
Any age with parents permission and I got mine when I was 13 so you don't have to me as old. Plus it's does not really hurt to get it. It just feels like icy hot is on your ear for a while. But still it's an awesome thing to get.

The cartilage takes a long time to heal I've had mine done for over a year and it still really hurts and has not healed properly. I've still got the original earring in and i wouldn't change it until it is healed fully. The bump on the back of your ear is from getting it done with a gun instead of a hollow needle. It's all the skin and stuff shoved to the back.
You should NOT get your cartilage pierced at any other place aside from a tattoo parlor. No piercings should be done without a hollow needle as a regular needle will push the skin and cartilage that is being pierced to the back of your ear causing infection, swelling, and an all out gross looking ear. I highly suggest that you go to a tattoo parlor and get it done professionally. It will cost anywhere from10-40 dollars depending on where you go and if you have an earring to go in it. The earring should be steel as it is hypoallergenic. Sources: I'm a piercer and I have a lot of experience and I have many piercings including my cartilage. Hope this helps. --------------------------------------------------- Improved answer: I dont understand why everyone says not to get it done at Claire's. I got my cartilage done at Claire's and it was PERFECTLY FINE. It was $33 for the earring, piercing, and ear cleaner fluid. My ear did NOT get infected and nothing bad happened at all. Personally tattoo parlors are pretty scary.... Everyone at Claire's are nice and friendly Sources: Got my cartilage pierced at Claire's
They did when I got mine done.
Your piercing should not get infected if you take the earring out but you should rinse it in alcohol before putting it back in to avoid infection.
just got my nose re-pierced yesterday, and i've had my cartilage done for about a year now. For me, the pain level is about the same. The piercing itself didn't actually hurt much at all for either, its just sore for a while after you get it done. I think my cartilage was worse, but not by that much. I don't think either piercing is that painful, but they do really look good. I just have a regular one hole cartilage piercing, but I hope I could help a little. :)
Its probably 16ga if done with a needle. You can either just call your piercer to be sure or measure it yourself. 16ga is 1.2mm thick and 14ga is 1.6mm thick. If it was done with a gun, its probably 18ga. Which is 1 mm thick.
Depends. I got my cartilage pierced with a gun and was like being stapled. The hole closed and I redid it myself with a piercing needle. The piercing needle was 20 guage and did not hurt as much. Hard to compare to finger pricks as the nerves feel differentally in both parts of the body. (When self piercing, one side bled a lot but did not hurt. The other side did not bleed but hurt a lot more. It wasnt so much the sticking the needle through the skin as it was pushing the needle through the cartilage, even using a foam backing to aid the procedure. Anyways, they both healed well.)
so people can tell if your striaght or gay I started with an earring in my left ear. Then I pierced my right ear & l got hooked.... cool. I decided I needed an earring in my right ear.
Not Badly at all. I got mine done yesterday and it was almost completley painless. It hut much less then my triple cartilage piercing or my double lobe.
