I have a 1979 Kenmore dryer, and the belt is 92-1/4". It has 5 ribs/4 grooves, and measures at 5/16" wide, though it may have been 1/4" wide when new.
Good luck -
The belt of a Sears Kenmore Sewing Machine may break. You can replace the old belt with a new one.
Hard to GUESS -as you haven't given Model # or year ! -You wouldn't believe how many different dryers, Kenmore makes, so this info is ESSENTIAL. -Just as a wild guess, I'd say, fit it around the pulley FIRST, then the drum.
The belt on a Maytag dryer is located around the drum, underneath the dryer’s top panel and around the motor pulley. To access it, you typically need to remove the front panel or the back panel of the dryer, depending on the model. The belt is responsible for turning the drum when the dryer is in operation. If the dryer is not spinning, checking the condition of the belt is a common troubleshooting step.
Could be a bearing, could be a motor, could be something (like a sock) caught up in there...tough to say without opening her up!
I am looking for a belt for the 5185.
To perform a Maytag dryer belt replacement, first unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Release the tension on the old belt and remove it from the drum and motor pulley. Install the new belt around the drum and motor pulley, ensuring it is aligned correctly. Reassemble the dryer and test it to ensure the belt is working properly.
It depends on the dryer but it sounds like the belt might be slipping or one of the drum rollers rubbing. Unplug dryer and see if you can access it workings from the bottom, if not remove the back dryer panel. You can try some 'Belt Dressing Spray - Found in automotive shops" on the dryer belt or some WD-40 on the drum rollers should it be one of them. If all else fails replace the dryer belt but that can be a bit of a job and it could be cheaper to just buy a new dryer.
Your dryer belt may be squeaking due to wear and tear or lack of lubrication. To fix it, you can try applying lubricant to the belt or replacing it with a new one.
Overloading your Kenmore front load washing machine can cause increased wear on the Belt drive. Over time, the belt may wear out and break.
To replace the dryer drum belt in your appliance, you will need to unplug the dryer, remove the top and front panels, release the tension on the belt, and then carefully remove and replace the old belt with a new one. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety precautions throughout the process.
The correct size of the Maytag dryer belt needed for replacement is typically around 92 inches in length.
around $ 10 if you do it yourself.
