Rainbow eucalyptus trees typically thrive in tropical climates, so they are not well-suited for the climate of Indiana, which experiences cold winters. It would be challenging for a rainbow eucalyptus tree to grow and survive in Indiana's environment.

The rainbow eucalyptus, or Eucalyptus deglupta, protects itself through a combination of physical and chemical defenses. Its thick bark can shed in strips, which helps to remove pests and pathogens that might cling to the tree. Additionally, the tree produces essential oils that have antibacterial and antifungal properties, deterring harmful insects and diseases. This combination of shedding bark and producing protective compounds allows the rainbow eucalyptus to thrive in its native habitats.
I really don't think that you can! I have grown hundreds of eucalypts but never from a cutting. They do, however, grow quite readily from seed and will be true to type if the tree isn't a hybrid. Depending where you live, you can collect the seed pods or buy it from a seed supplier.

After an hours search I found this site for you:The Rainbow Eucalyptus is our specialty, and we are delighted to present them to you via this website. Our aim is to help people learn about this beautiful tree, to enable people to develop appreciation for it, and to encourage people to grow the tree in their yards and communities. Eucalyptus deglupta (Rainbow Eucalyptus) hails from the rainforests of Mindanao, which is the southernmost and easternmost island in the Philippine island group. This means that the tree is a tropical grower and as such can be grown outdoors only in Florida and perhaps southern Texas and southern California. This tree has been reported to withstand light frosts but not a hard freeze. Another item of interest is that the Rainbow Eucalyptus does not produce the aromatic oils that other Eucalypts are well known for. * http://eucalyptusdeglupta.com/index.htm

Rainbow eucalyptus trees are not commonly eaten by many animals due to their tough bark and toxic foliage. However, some insects, such as certain beetles and caterpillars, may feed on their leaves. Additionally, herbivorous animals like koalas may occasionally nibble on the leaves, but they generally prefer other eucalyptus species. Overall, the tree is not a primary food source for many creatures.
