It all depends on how one defines an American and the boundaries of America. Technically speaking, if we include only the current 50 states of the US the approximate total us population will number 400million citizens. It is estimated that of this future population between 33-40 percent will be of latin American/Latino/hispanic origins. That means there will be a hispanic American population in the united states between 132 million and 160 million people. One interesting note is that this population of Americans with latin heritage will be the majority of young people ages 1-34 years of age), this population will be the young workers and professionals of tomorrow. The white cacuasin population will have a median age over 50 by that time. This is due to the fact of the aging baby boomers, and that they had smaller families then from the ones the boomers came from. 2050 will be pivotal in socioeconomic, geriatric, political and race issues. The population of people able to collect social security payments will outstrip the total monies received by taxes. Since the working population will be smaller in terms of percentage then they were in the 20th century the social security system which will be of mostly white-American recipients will be insolvent. The year 2050 will pit the will of the Latino population against the status quo, racial tensions of years past might have unforseen consequences in terms of resentment. The worker in 2050 will be brown, the future of America is brown. Black populations, Latino populations, and Asian populations will continue to mix with the European American populations and in the 22nd century white Americans will be the minority.
