The Scout sign identifies a person as a scout anywhere in the world. It is used whenever the Scout Oath or Scout Law is recited and when one scout raises it all other scouts should stand in respectful silence and return it. The three upraised fingers stand for the three parts of the Scout Oath (duty to God and country, duty to others and duty to self).
