Gay people no more like or dislike being gay than straight people like or dislike being straight.
As a gay man, my sexual orientation is as much a part of me as my hair color, my left-handedness or my dislike of reality shows. It just *is*, without conscious choice on my part.
Are there drawbacks to being gay? Yes. And I wish there weren't. But I can honestly tell you that a) it's not a choice, b) I knew my orientation before I was 10 years old and c) given all the disadvantages of being a gay person in a majority straight society, I wouldn't change even if it were possible. Which it isn't.
Another Perspective:
It depends on the person you ask and the life experiences that person has had. Just like with straight, bi, trans and queer people, some have positive experiences and enjoy their life and some don't. Usually--I find--it's harder for kids and teens and becomes easier and more enjoyable as one gets older. Also, those who embrace their gayness are much happier than those who live in the closet.
----------------------------
I am gay and I like being me. I have no more shame about being gay. It has been long road. But I am glad to be who I am. It is such a waste of time to hate yourself for being gay. To many GLBTQ people spend years hating themselves. Such a waste of those years. I wasted to many years on this but no more. To anyone who reads this, I am a pretty damned good person and so are you, don't let anyone make you believe otherwise. :)
Some are, some aren't. It appears that gay people who have come out -- publicly acknowledged being gay -- are more comfortable than gay people who are "in the closet," that is, who hide it.
Some are and some aren't. It depends on the person.
No, being gay is not a choice. Most gay people claim that they have always felt like they were gay since childhood.
Short answer: No. First of all, people don't have a choice about being gay. It's like being blond-haired or tall: it just happens. Of course, a lot of people don't like gay people and they might pick on the gay kid. That's not fun, but it's not the gay kid that's being "bad" -- it's the people who tease!
You say it like "gays" are some other species. They are just as equal as we are. Being gay is just as simple as having different opinions on Politics. Therefore, some people will like cheese. Some won't. Being gay has nothing to do with it.
Some gay people are funny and some are not. Being gay has nothing to do with being funny.
ok honey, just like anyother religion or race of people, there are going to be some people who think that being gay is bad. I dont know personally if there is anything in the hindu bible concerning being gay. if you are gay just be yourself and dont care about what any religion, or people say about you.
Gay people are not prevented from being anywhere.
== Just as most straight people have jobs, about the same ratio of gay people have jobs. Being gay does not change your ability to perform work or get paid like everyone else.
The gay people I know don't hate being called gay. Young people use the word gay in an offensive way. This is abuse and bullying and good people never do it.
Yes!!! To be gay has nothing to to with being fertile.
being gay is ok
It has nothing to do with being "gay" just being stupid.
No one can turn gay. It's simply not possible. It may seem like there are more gay people, but that is only because society has become more tolerant. Years ago if people were gay they would have to hide it and lead a double life. Being gay was like being a criminal in those days, but because society has changed this means that more people are out as gay.
