In 2005 there were 789 unintentional firearm deaths in the U.S. There were 642 in 2006. Information for 1981-2006 can be found at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (which is part of the Centers for Disease Control.) Look for the Injury Mortality Report that is part of the WISQARS data system.

according to possibly biased statistics, about 360 people a year ( some say mainly children) almost one-a-day die from firearms ( accidents) despite the efforts of the NRA and hunter-safety councils etc. in any case the majority are juvenile. whether this includes intentional firearm homicides by kids- which does happen, is unknown. Secure that safety catch.
