I have visited a number of churches in China and found them full to overflowing. In one case, the church service was being relayed by closed circuit television from the church building to an overflow congregation in the church hall, while others stood outside. The official newspaper of the Communist Party, Xinhua, has published articles about church buildings in China. While their numbers are small in relation to the total population, Christians are observable.
Underground churches with overseas affiliations also exist, and these are illegal because of long-standing Chinese sensitivities over foreign control, dating back to before the Boxer Rebellion.
Yes, China allows Christians to practice their religion, but the government strictly regulates religious activities and monitors religious organizations. There have been reports of persecution of Christians and restrictions on their gatherings in certain parts of the country.
The Philippines has the highest percentage of Christians among all Asian countries, with approximately 86% of the population identifying as Christian.
It is not possible to know, with any accuracy, how many Christians are in the world, but the most common estimate is about 2.2-2.3 billion. One of the problems with this estimate is that it appears to include many people who live in "Christian countries" but are not Christians themselves. China is an example of another problem with many estimates: I have seen a conservative estimate of 11 million Christians in China and an optimistic one of over 60 million Christians; with some outlier estimates even higher, proving that we do not really know.
China implemented the one-child policy in 1980 to reduce birth rates and control population growth. The policy was relaxed in 2015 to allow families to have two children.
About 8-9% of Christians in the UK are Roman Catholic.
Around 31.2% of the global population identifies as Christian, making Christianity the largest religion in the world.

no they do not have freedom
China probably has more Christians than any other country, because there are an estimated 70 million Christians in China, but that is in a country with a population of over 1 billion people, so it might not be the country with the largest PERCENTAGE of Christians. Many Christians are in Europe and North America, but I don't know the exact number.
Percentage of Christians in ChinaCurrently thought to be 7.25%, but may be much higher. People in China are often "underground." That means they must hide from the government or be subject to persecution, imprisonment, or worse.
