Many things that we consider human rights are just a group of freedoms that apply to our modern understanding of the rights of individuals pioneered by liberalism. One could argue that isn't a contractual freedom a form of human right. By definition, it is. However, most scholars will classify only those freedoms that are universal rights granted to all people are human rights. In sum, there are many freedoms and some freedoms are human rights. The freedom to smoke a cigarette is generally not classified as a human right althought could be advocated as such.
