The Victorian era was one that was marked by the separation of classes and socialization would have been different within the various classes. The people may have frequented the same activities but had separate entrances and exits. Some events they may have went o would have been musical performances or sporting events. Literature was also a common leisure activity among the classes.
Victorians in workhouses often worked long hours, typically around 10-12 hours per day, six days a week. The work was often tedious and strenuous, and the conditions were harsh, contributing to poor health and low morale among the workers.
because they needed money and nearly every body was pooreven the children had to work in the factory. They were treated really badly...
When it comes to teaching your kid to socialise the parent needs get intouch with the youth of there childs era, find out whats "cool" make sure its a positive influence, and basicslly teach your child how to have fun, cause fun is the most common thing people want, teach your child how to have fun with nothing eg with no money, no car, no electical devices, cause there will come a time in childs life where he or she will be without and its best to have them prepared cause if you can make fun happin people will wanna like, but also teach your kid that things like car, money etc are halso important because lets face it people are very materialistic, and if you have a boy things like cars and money can be crucial to there social life so also teach them the importance of these things and how to acheive them, another thing put your child in language, speaking classes because being a good speaker and having a good tone is also very important also get your child into a sport that requires disipline and respect cause this will buld charactet .
The Upper and upper middle class Victorians did not work; they would inherit their money from relatives. If they did have occupations it would be that of business or land owner (ei. an owner of a cotton mill). They would enjoy lavish parties, music and food would be their main enjoyment. Would have a great number of servants. Upstairs maids, parlor maids, ladies maids, valets, butler, coach drivers, groundskeepers, gardeners, cooks, housekeeper, governess and nurse (if they had children). Approx annual income £5000 to 30,000 There were also middle and lower middle class families, these were Doctors, lawyers. They would enjoy some of the same things as the upper class but not to such an extent and would not be involved in as many parties and circles. Would not have as many servants; a cook, house keeper. Approx annual income £100-1000 The Lower class which was a focal point of Charles Dickens who were hard labour workers, factory hands etc. They either did not have any servants or were servants themselves.
