There is a lawsuit pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia that challenges the constitutionality of Georgia's ban on same-sex marriage. On July 21, 2014, the Georgia Attorney General filed a motion to dismiss that lawsuit, essentially repeating the same arguments that have been used to defend same-sex marriage bans in other jurisdictions up to now. The court will soon rule on the motion and then proceed accordingly.
