I can't talk of the average teens, but from my experience I spent a lot of time daydreaming in class - sometimes out of boredom, sometimes out of some exciting thoughts about after school life. I'd say somewhere around 1.5-2 hours in aggregate? It's not impossible to keep up with all the work and still thinking of something else in class I believe.
