When judging the validity of a poll, consider factors such as the sample size, sampling method, response rate, the wording of the questions, the demographic representativeness of the sample, and the margin of error. It is also important to assess if the poll was conducted by a reputable organization or conducted impartially.

Several factors influence whether the poll is truly representative or not.

Population size is one, for a poll of about 1000 individuals will have an 'error' =uncertainty, of ~3%.

It is vital the questions be unbiased. Bias in the question will show up as a major correlate in the answers.

The method of polling - telephone, street poll, etc etc.

Sample bias should be avoided normally. Equal numbers of M & F, proper age distribution for the subject and so on.

You MUST run a pre-poll, for questions that to you are crystal-clear, are in fact capable of several interpretations. Good luck.
