Overconformity is characterized by a rather unhealthy list of means that one might find themselves answering to while trying to adhere to the harsh expectations that have been inflicted upon people in society. It is act of trying to change who you are by extreme means to try to fit in and be accepted. Not only is it changing who you are, but it is letting this change consume your life and and control you. A few examples of this would be eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia, plastic surgery, or "risky-shift".

Overconformity refers to an excessive adherence to social norms or rules, often at the expense of one's own personal values or beliefs. It can lead to rigid thinking, lack of creativity, and the suppression of individuality in order to fit in with a group or society.
