Using the UN's Multidimensional Poverty Index (factors income, education, clean water, electricity, etc.), Sub-Saharan Africa is the poorest region in the world.

In 2010, the Republic of Niger (in Western Africa) was reported as the poorest nation in the world with 92.7% of its inhabitants living in poverty, 65.9% living on at least $1.25 a day and 89.5% deprived of sanitation.

This is a difficult question to ask, as you may get different answers depending on who you talk to. A country's wealth (and level of poorness) can be measured according to different parameters: GDP of the country, annual income of the country, annual income of the population etc. some of these factors depend on the size of the country and population. These figures obviously change year on year.

Statistics can be manipulated to prove or disprove a point. A seemingly wealthy country (i.e. one with oil reserves) could also be extremely poor, as the government may control or regulate how the income from the oil is distributed.

See the related link for one example, it lists the world 10 poorest countries: this is only one such site, and one such list.
Zimbabwe
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the poorest in terms of GDP per capita.

However, in terms of overall GDP, Tuvalu is the poorest.

Who are the Poorest countries list?

in my opinion the poorest country in the world should be theUSA and that's because America's is never proud of what it has and is always starting trouble with other countries to get what they want. I am aware that there are countries in the world that are actually living in poverty but most of the people in these countries are happy with what they have. But if we were talking statistics wise, the poorest country would have to be Malawi
