Did Samoa rule Tonga?

Although it is not certain of the era or time, Tongans have ruled Samoa at one point. Before Tonga was established as the monarchy "The Kingdom of Tonga," or what is now a Constitutional Monarchy, with a prime minister- it was similar to the colonies that comprised the first U.S. (Vava'u, Ha'apai, Tongatapu and etc. had their own ruler.) It is not known which Tongan dynasty it was that ruled. To identify this is very important because until the current reigning dynasty (Tupou 1), Tonga was not The Kingdom of Tonga. It was still consisted of colonies. Individual Tongans and individual Samoans have had a lot of discontent towards each other because of the past where Tonga once ruled Samoa, and the claims that Samoans were former slaves of Tonga. There has been much heated competition, in the modern age, involving Tonga and Samoa in Rugby. One of the best Rugby players of all time is Jonah Lomu, of Tongan descent. But there has not been much representation of Tonga since then. Samoa, on the other hand, has played very well in 2010, winning the Sevens Cup in Las Vegas and moved on to take the Japan cup as well. Tongans and Samoans are very beautiful people and it is a shame that there is ethnic rivalry. But it is wonderful to know that there are Tongans and Samoans who have enough respect for each other and themselves to get along with one another.

What is the ethnic group percentage in Zimbabwe?

The ethnic composition of Zimbabwe is mostly dominated by the Shona ethnic group, which makes up about 70-80% of the population. The Ndebele ethnic group is the second largest, accounting for around 15-20% of the population. There are also smaller ethnic groups such as the Tonga, Shangaan, Venda, and others.

What is the unemployment rate of Tonga?

10.7% (2006) I don't know where this 10% came from. If it came from the Niue Statistics department then it probably measures the amount of working age people that don't work for the government in which case it is an abomination. There is no real unemployment in Niue. Subsistence agriculture and fishing are gainfully undertaken by a very small percentage of those not employed by the government or private sector. In a population of 1200 there wouldn't be 1% who don't partake in any of these forms of employment.

Are there Mormons in Tonga?

Yes! Actually, Tonga has one of the highest Mormon populations in the world (by percent, not number, since Tonga is quite small). In January 2010, there were 55,173 baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) in Tonga. The total population of Tonga was about 103,000... So 54% of Tongans are Mormon!
