Discrimination (racial, religios, geographical origin, sexual, weight, etc.) will be with us as long as anyone wants to feel superior to someone else and picks something the "other" is exhibiting. In the US there is a log tradition of "me and mine" is better than "you and yours"
The Holocaust ended with the defeat of Nazi Germany. It wasn't ended by the 'US Military' (unless you seriously think that Germany was defeated single-handedly by the US).
