Why do black men commit more crime?

Its not that black men commit more crime its more that black men are convicted of crimes more often.

The way our justice system works is when you go to court the judge has a few options

1) Find you guilty

2) Find you not guilty

3) Rule there is not enough evidence to continue

4) Find you guilty but set aside the judgment if you follow some stipulations (ie. probation, classes, community service etc) and the offence will not be on your record as if it never happened

Studies have shown that if two people from the same neighborhood, from the same school, same financial background and have the same criminal history commit the same crime one being black one being white the black offender is far more likely to be found guilty and the white have the judgment set aside and not appear on his record.

So when you look at convictions and persons in jail blacks are far more likely to out number whites due to how lopsided our justice system still it.

The answer to this rather loaded question depends on who you ask. Whilst there are people who consider it to be a matter of race or culture there are also others who consider it to be a conspiracy against black people. Probably the true answer is a multi-faceted one that involves aspects of poverty, law enforcement bias, over-crowding, poor education and similar aspects.

The first question to consider is; "do more blacks than whites become criminals?" The jury is out on that question and there may be factors such as the reporting of crime, the policies of arrest and the police, the policies of the prosecution and the courts to take into account. The second question to consider would be; "if there are more, why?" This could be due to poverty levels in the black community, education levels, over-crowding levels, racial prejudice of people who report crime or people who act of those reports. It could also depend on the area of the world that one reports on. Would there be a greater amount of crime from black people in Norway? Probably not as the vast majority of Norway's population is white. What about America? It also depends on where in America you ask. Alaska? Probably not, less blacks live in Alaska. Washington DC, perhaps as there is a large poor black population in the nation's capital.

As I said earlier, it's a loaded question and so you get loaded answers also. The best is to do research and make up your own mind!

Unfortunately, some social problems can be traced back as far as the bad old days of slavery in America. Slaves were denied education (it was actually illegal even to teach a slave how to read) and even after slavery ended in the late 19th century following the Civil War, there was persistent racial prejudice against African Americans on the part of European Americans who controlled all of the wealth and institutions of America. By the 21st century this prejudice has been substantially overcome, as witness the election of an African American President, but it nonetheless has left a legacy of social problems. Black people have been marginalized for a long time in America and hence have tended to form unhealthy, ghetto sub-cultures in which crime is considered a normal if not admirable way of life. If the only successful people you know in your neighborhood are drug dealers, then that becomes the ideal to which you are likely to aspire. As for the issue of male vs. female, that too is a cultural inheritance. Males demonstrate their masculinity by committing crimes; females demonstrate their femininity by wearing makeup.
