How much time on passport do you need for travel to US?

Atleast six months. Unless you are planning to travel for only a few days. For the US, a UK passport only needs to be vaild for the duartion of your trip (though you also need a visa waiver form)

You should have enough months remaining on your passport to last for the duration of your trip plus at least one extra month. You want to avoid a passport expiring during the duration of your trip. Having at least one month left on your passport after your date of return will allow you some extra travel time should you need to extend your trip. You should get your passport renewed early if you are concerned it may expire during your trip.

as long as you have your passport in your hand when they need to see it then not time at all, but order it at least 3 weeks, but to be safe go for 5 weeks cause you know post its crap, and then done you have a nice passport
