Chondochondritis, more commonly known as costochondritis, is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the sternum (breastbone). This condition can cause localized chest pain that often worsens with movement or pressure on the rib cage. While the exact cause is often unclear, it can be associated with physical strain, injury, or viral infections. Costochondritis is usually self-limiting and can be managed with rest, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory medications.
